HOW TO RACE

What is a "Qualifier"

There are three different ways to qualify.

• Preferred Qualifying; This takes place at the Qualifying events when you finish in the top 7. You get the first gate picks at the Championship Main Event.

• Alternate Qualifying; This happens when you finish after the top 7, you must run at least one lap in one moto to be an Alternate. You will get first-come, first-served gate pick position after May 10th, after the Preferred Qualified riders are fully registered.

• Last Chance Qualifying (LCQ); This is only available at the Championship Main Event and takes place in the morning, prior to the Main event. You would not get a Preferred or Alternate Qualifying position which means these positions will be whatever gate-pick position is left on the gate at that time. You must register for this prior to the Main Event to be sure there are spots available. If there are no spots available, the system will not let you register.

Description: A final Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) will be held for riders who either could not participate or could not start in the Qualifying Events. This will happen on Friday May 23rd & Saturday, May 24th, prior to the Championship Main Event.

What do I have to do?

To qualify in a Preferred qualifying position, you must participate in the qualifying process: For Preferred Qualifying you must race at least one qualifying event listed in the Schedule, and you must finish in a qualifying spot, (top 7) to have a guaranteed placement in the Championship Main Event on May 24th. There is no additional qualifying needed after you finish top 7 at an Area Qualifier.

For Alternate qualifying, your spot is not guaranteed unless you qualify top 7. You may attempt again at a different event until you qualify.

For the LCQ Qualifying, a final Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ) will be held for riders who either could not participate or could not start in the Qualifying Events. This will happen on Saturday, May 24th, prior to the Championship Main Event.

To understand how the qualifying system works, it helps to know that our event is divided into 5 different geographical areas consisting of the North East, North West, South East and South West and South.  There are multiple tracks in each Area where you can attempt to Qualify. Click the Schedule button to find an event.

STEP 1 - AREA QUALIFIERS

In each of the Areas, there is an Area Qualifier, riders must attend an Area Qualifier and finish in an advancement position (top 7) to guarantee a spot into the Championship Main Event. At each Area Qualifier, all classes will be offered and a two-moto format will be conducted. Once qualified in the top 7, riders may attempt to advance their finishing position in as many as two different Area Qualifiers, in as many different classes as they choose. If a rider qualifies for the Championship, the rider MUST pre-register with Epic MX Events by the deadline to keep that guaranteed spot. (This guarantees the spot does not go to an Alternate.) The finishing positions 1-7 are guaranteed to advance to the Championships from the Area Qualifiers and will be listed in the advancement chart on the Results Page.

If you do not qualify for the Championship, you can register as an Alternate. Top ranking alternates have a high likelihood to advance to the Championship. We do recommend signing up as an alternate if you cannot make it to a different Area event to try and qualify. If you do not get chosen as an alternate, your race fees will be refunded. Information is listed on the site under Alternate Information.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Riders must receive a finish position in at least one moto in order to advance to the Championship as an alternate.

STEP 2 – The CHAMPIONSHIP

If you finished in a guaranteed qualifying position for the Championship main event, congratulations!  There is just one more step you need to take to confirm your gate spot on the start line at the most anticipated motocross race in the South East!  Registration for the Championship is required.  Online registration is preferred, and payment by credit card will be required.  If you prefer to register by phone or mail, please contact us.

The Championship is the "Main Event.” Riders who place in an advancement finishing position at the Area Qualifiers are invited to the Championship main event, but riders MUST pre-register with Epic MX Events by the deadline to keep that guaranteed spot. The Championship is separated into two different events: The Youth Mini-Frame Final and the Big-Bike Final. The reason for the class separation is to accommodate the number of riders.

Registration for the Championship is currently closed.

Top placing Alternates will likely get a spot if they register, due to drop-out positions becoming available. If you did not qualify for the Championship in a guaranteed position but want to register as an Alternate we have an online form you must fill out, click here.

LCQ Process

If a rider misses the Friday qualifying practice and wants to enter in the last-chance qualifier round on Saturday morning, they can make the Saturday race. The fee is $25 plus whatever the fee is for your race class. You would need to be ready-to-roll right after riders meeting and it would only be 3 laps for practice/qualifying prior to racing.

The process for qualifying Saturday morning is:

  1. Sign-up for the LCQ on-line or in person.
  2. Check-in to get your sticker for the LCQ. (Only riders who DID NOT run practice on Friday are in the LCQ so there’s not a lot of bike management.)
  3. Ride the 3 laps with your transponder.
  4. Office confirms your class and your gate pick is at the end of the roster.

NOTE: If you practice on Friday, the LCQ is not available. The LCQ is only for riders who did not ride Friday practice/qualifying. THE LCQ IS LIMITED TO A MAXIMUM OF 25 RIDERS. It is highly recommended to sign-up online for the LCQ if you know you will not make Friday's practice. LCQ Qualifying for Saturday morning will be available for sign-up on line Friday night after practice.
